Tower Hamlets has over forty mosques, but dedicated prayer space for women is not a given. Many of the smaller masjids — particularly those operating from converted houses or community rooms — have a single prayer hall, and it isn't always accessible to women outside of Jumu'ah or special occasions.

The mosques listed below have a confirmed women's section on FirstRow. That means a separate or partitioned prayer space that's available for daily prayers, not just Fridays.

Whitechapel

East London Mosque on Whitechapel Road is the largest mosque in the borough and has one of the best-equipped women's facilities of any mosque in East London. There's a dedicated women's prayer hall on the upper floors of the London Muslim Centre, with separate entrance and ablution facilities. It's open for all five daily prayers.

Esha Atul Islam Mosque (also listed as Ford Square Masjid) on Ford Square is a smaller masjid near Stepney Green that maintains a women's section alongside its main prayer hall. Accessible from both the Whitechapel and Stepney Green sides of E1.

Shadwell and Stepney

Darul Ummah on Bigland Street is one of the more established community mosques in the area. It has a women's prayer space and is one of the few mosques in this part of E1 with both a car park and disability access — useful if you're travelling with family.

Stepney Shahjalal Mosque & Cultural Centre on Duckett Street provides a women's section within its cultural centre building. The mosque serves the local Bangladeshi community and has been a fixture in Stepney for many years.

Bethnal Green

Baitul Aman on Braintree Street is a community masjid in the E2 0 postcode with a women's prayer area. It sits between Bethnal Green and Globe Town — walkable from Bethnal Green station.

Shahporan Masjid & Islamic Centre Trust on Hackney Road also has a women's section and disability access. It's positioned along the Hackney Road corridor, between Cambridge Heath and Shoreditch.

Nearest stations: Bethnal Green (Central line, Elizabeth line), Cambridge Heath (Overground)

Mile End

Al-Huda Cultural Centre & Mosque on Mile End Road has a women's prayer space and disability access. The Mile End Road location makes it one of the more accessible options for women travelling from across the borough — it's on a main bus route and within walking distance of Mile End station.

Bow

Dar al-Arqam on Kitcat Terrace in Bow has a women's section alongside disability access. It's one of the smaller community masjids on this list — less visible than the larger centres but well-established locally and noted on FirstRow with confirmed amenity data.

Poplar

Poplar Mosque & Community Centre on Webber Path is the main option for women praying in the E14 0 area. It has a women's prayer space and disability access, and covers an area that's otherwise underserved for women's facilities.
